I couldn´t restrain this inspiring documentation about the Canadian artist Gordon Smith. Inventory magazine founder Ryan Willms visits the 96-year-old in his modernist retreat in Vancouver to give us a glimpse into the life of the artist and how he stays active and makes the most of his verdantly nestled home.
Today Ryan Willms announced the closure of the two Inventory stores in Vancouver and New York. It´s really upsetting to me since I´ve been a big fan of the concept and the philosophy behind these stores.
Web imprint FreundevonFreunden had the chance to visit Ryan Willms, Editor-in-Chief of Inventory in his home in Vancouver. Inventory magazine and its retail stores focus on well-crafted products with a carefully considered selection of Japanese brands and products from the UK and Europe.
With another captivating editorial, Vancouver's noteworthy retailer and publishing platform Inventory released another series of seasonal Looks which I really couldn´t hold back. Shot at the Charles H. Scott Gallery and Sunrise Market in Vancouver, the editorial offers a look at the season's simple essentials from the likes of Margaret Howell, John Smedley, Engineered Garments and Yaeca, worn with accessories from Beams Plus, Whitehouse Cox and orSlow, amongst others. See the looks above and head over to the Inventory store and shop the featured pieces.
Berlin-based interview magazine Freunde von Freunde paid fashion director Stephen Mann a visit at his house in the north of London. Located in Haringey a suburb with a bad reputation, Stephen and his girlfriend Genesta renovated a gutted Victorian terrace from the ground on up. “We wanted something clean and not too fussy, somewhere we could relax without being distracted by too much clutter,” says Genesta. Stephen Mann works as fashion director of Inventory magazine and creative consultant for Arc’teryx and has also done projects for Missoni, Rapha and Norse Projects. In his very comfortable and personal home you´ll find a lot of furniture from Vitsoe like the 606 shelving system installed in the lounge, kitchen, spare room and bedroom as well as the 620 chairs, the 621 side tables and the 610 wall panel system. The imposing wooden kitchen unit, wardrobe and bathroom fittings were designed by Dean Edmonds for the couple. Everything in this home is beautifully arranged with a functional and understated approach.
The Inventory store just updated their lookbook section with three new looks for this year’s fall/winter season. Inventory works as an online platform, magazine and store offering a unique and global perspective on design, craftsmanship, and culture, always with a high aesthetic demanding as you can see in their beautiful imagery displaying the latest menswear pieces for the upcoming season.
Inventory Magazine celebrates their cover feature in Issue 08 with a unique edition signed and customized by Mark Borthwick, the photographer and artist created several one-of-a-kind copies of the magazine featuring ink stains, wax marks, burns and writing on the pages of the interview an altered cover and a red string bookmark.
